A husband and wife, who were previously reported missing with their 9-year-old son in Kedah, have surrendered to police and are being investigated over an alleged fraudulent kutu money pool scheme
According to The Star, Kubang Pasu police chief Supt Mohd Radzi Abdul Rahim said the couple, aged 36 and 39, turned themselves in at the Kubang Pasu district police headquarters at 1.50am today, 6 August.
He said both are being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for alleged cheating linked to a kutu scheme, which reportedly resulted in losses of RM25,000.
"Both have been remanded for four days from today," he said.
Police had earlier received a report from a 23-year-old man who claimed he was a victim of the scheme and had suffered losses amounting to RM25,000, reported Berita Harian.
The couple, together with their 9-year-old son, were previously reported missing after the wife's 62-year-old father lodged a report at the Bukit Kayu Hitam police station on 3 August
The grandfather said he made the report after failing to contact his daughter, son-in-law, and grandson, and after learning that his grandson had also been absent from school.
The family was reported to have been unreachable since leaving their home in Bukit Kayu Hitam on 20 July.
