Hailing from Hunan province in southern China, Zeng shared the details of her weight gain journey in an interview with Ruimu Video on 9 October, which has since garnered a staggering 500 million views.
In the video posted on the Chinese social media site Weibo, Zeng detailed that she initially weighed around 50kg before she embarked on a weight gain journey for her then-boyfriend, Wei, reported South China Morning Post.
Wei expressed a desire for Zeng to become "chubby", and even promised to marry her if she could meet his preference
Based on the WeChat screenshots shown in the video, Wei allegedly expressed a strong preference for curvy women, noting that his ex-girlfriends were all "quite chubby".
He clarified that while Zeng does not have to reach 100kg, a weight of 65kg to 75kg would be ideal while encouraging her to "eat as much as possible".
In the video, the model also claimed that Wei promised to marry her if she gained weight. Driven by the promise of marriage, Zeng took on the challenge.

Wei justified his decision by claiming that he "values his freedom". Additionally, he also advised Zeng to "find a good man" and to "live her life to the fullest."
He further expressed his wish for her to find a "stable" partner, highlighting his own self-proclaimed instability.
According to South China Morning Post, the model's weight gain not only cost her the relationship but also led to the loss of her modelling job.
She also reportedly suffered from several health issues as a result of the drastic weight gain.
