MOH To Investigate New Vape-Like Product With Tagline "Inhale Before Going To School"
The product is being promoted as an energy booster, claiming to provide a stimulating effect for students and working adults.
The Health Ministry is set to probe "energy sticks," a new product resembling vapes that is specifically targeted at students
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad stated that he has received public alerts regarding the product, featuring a two-pronged nasal inhaler filled with a camphor-like substance, actively promoted and distributed across various platforms, reported the New Straits Times.
"Thus, I have directed the director-general and deputy director to thoroughly scrutinise the matter and enforce necessary measures," he said.
Dr Dzulkefly further mentioned that he had received multiple complaints regarding health issues that could be caused by the energy stick, and assured the public that he would promptly address the concerns.
Earlier, a health group warned the public about the product, cautioning against its potential to push both young and adult users towards harmful substance use
The Facebook page warned that the product is gaining popularity among school students and is widely sold at prices ranging from as low as RM2.50 to RM10.
The product is promoted as an energy booster, claiming to provide a stimulating effect for students and working adults.
According to Buletin TV3, the product is said to have two nozzles that fit into the nostrils, and the substance in it is to be inhaled through the nose.
The sellers of the product allegedly employ concerning taglines such as "inhale before going to school" and "inhale before starting work".
