Mother Found Out Her OKU Daughter Was Raped When She Unexpectedly Gave Birth
The woman did not display any symptoms throughout her pregnancy.
On 18 July, a disabled (OKU) woman in Kampung Jenan, Sarawak unexpectedly gave birth
The mentally challenged woman delivered her first child, a baby boy, at Sarawak's General Hospital, The Borneo Post reported.
The 24-year-old's family members were not aware that she had been pregnant
They reportedly did not realise the woman was expecting a child as she did not display any symptoms throughout her pregnancy.
Following the baby's birth, the woman's mother lodged a police report.
Authorities soon discovered that the victim had been raped by a 17-year-old boy
The teenager is the family's neighbour from their village.
"We are trying to locate the suspect who has escaped and the case is being investigated under Section 376 of The Penal Code," Serian's chief police DSP Aswandy Anis said, according to Utusan Borneo.
The Section carries a maximum jail penalty of 20 years and whipping if convicted.
