Sin Chew Daily reported the Segambut Member of Parliament (MP) as saying that the public should take a step back and allow the court to deliver death sentences on a case-by-case basis, rather than keeping it as mandatory.

"Apart from listening to the pain of victims' families, (we should) also listen to the parents of convicts who want a second chance for their children," Hannah was quoted as saying by Sin Chew Daily.

Following the minister's statement, the mother of a murdered 15-year-old has struck out at Hannah in a Facebook post earlier today, 4 March

"This woman, Hannah Yeoh, she was the Subang Jaya state assemblyman in 2013," the mother of a brutally murdered Ng Yuk Tim wrote in her Facebook post.

"When my child went missing, I spent a lot of time looking for her at the Kelana Jaya LRT station but to no avail. At the time, someone gave me Hannah's number and advised me to ask for her help," she added.

"She didn't pick up my call. She messaged me to only reach her through text, but she never got back to me when I needed help the most," the mother wrote.

She then referred to Hannah's statement on listening to the parents of convicts who want a second chance for their children.

"Who's giving my child a second chance? Is it you? You didn't even want to help me find my child at the time. Are you a mother? Do you have children?" she added.

"I want the death penalty to stay, and I am not being emotional about it. Every time I hear a supporter of abolishing death penalty say 'life is precious', my heart bleeds... What about the life of my innocent child?" the mother wrote.

The body of 15-year-old Ng Yuk Tim was found stuffed in a luggage bag in 2013

theSun reported that the 15-year-old, who was a cosplayer, was murdered by then 23-year-old Poon Wai Hong.

Poon was sentenced to death by High Court judge Datuk Mohd Azman Husin in April 2018.

"The accused's action of putting the body in a luggage bag and discarding it showed that he had the intention to murder her," Azman said.

According to The Star, Poon admitted to hitting Ng with a dumbbell after she resisted his rape attempt.

He added that he stuffed Ng's body into a bag, carried it into a car before driving to Kota Kemuning to dump it.

Poon had met the victim on Facebook due to their shared interest in cosplay.
