Newborn Girl Found At Ampang Roadside In A Mineral Water Carton

She was discovered alive with her umbilical cord still attached.

At 7am on 19 July, a newborn baby girl was found in a mineral water carton at the Jalan Kabus-Jalan Bintang intersection in Ampang

Ampang Jaya District Police Chief ACP Noor Azmi Yusoff was quoted by The Star as saying, "She was found alive and placed in a box covered with leaves." 

The newborn was found with her umbilical cord still attached

Bernama reported that the newborn did not have any documents or belongings either. 

After being brought to Ampang Hospital for examination, it was learned that the baby girl was 2.8kg and said to be born within the previous 24 hours.

Abandonment of a child under 12 years by a parent or guardian is a punishable offence, holding a maximum jail term of seven years, a fine, or both

ACP Noor Azmi added that the case is currently being investigated under Section 317 of the Penal Code. 

He urged those with any information regarding the case to contact investigating officer Insp Zanariah at +6018-9604202 or report to a nearby police station.
