A screenshot of a news report with its headline stating that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has declared a public holiday tomorrow, 15 March, to celebrate Michelle Yeoh's Oscar win is fake

The Prime Minister's Department (JPM), in a statement posted on its social media accounts last night, 13 March, advised people to not share the screenshot, purportedly showing that it's from The Star.

In the screenshot, the headline says, "PM Anwar declares public holiday on Wednesday: 'This is the pride of a nation!'"

A check by SAYS found that the screenshot is an edited version of an actual report by The Star, written by one Gordon Kho, with the headline: "Michelle Yeoh wins Best Actress at the Oscars: 'I'm bringing this home'".

"Not sure, don't share," JPM advised in the post

While the news about the public holiday is fake, Michelle Yeoh did win an Oscar for Best Actress, becoming the first ever Malaysian to do so:
