On Thursday evening, 16 September, a nurse at Kulim Hospital in Kedah discovered a spy camera inside the bathroom of a ward

According to Kulim district police chief Supt Sazalee Adam, the nurse spotted the mini-camera — placed inside a tissue box mounted on the wall — after hearing the sound of something falling on the floor.

The 30-year-old nurse grew suspicious after seeing the camera and contacted the police.

The incident happened at 6.20 and by 7.20 the suspect was nabbed

"The 35-year-old suspect was arrested at 7.20pm the same night in front of a hospital ward," Harian Metro quoted Sazalee as saying today, 18 September.

Police also confiscated a mobile phone, two SIM cards, a memory card and a cable from the suspect.

He is one of the Kulim Hospital staff and works as an assistant.

The suspect admitted that the mini-camera was his

While he purchased the camera a month ago, he claims to have mounted it at 5pm the same day the nurse found it on Thursday. However, police are still conducting their investigation into the incident.

The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code for insulting the modesty of a woman by word, through sound, gesture, or exhibition of any object.

It is also being investigated under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 for insulting behaviour.
