OKU Driver In Perak Allegedly Crashes Into Restaurant & Kills Chef While Trying To Park

The man was parking his car in front of the shop when he accidentally stepped on the gas pedal.

A 59-year-old cook at an eatery in Kampar died after a car crashed into the restaurant

According to The Star, the incident happened around 9.40am on Tuesday, 23 February, at a shop on Jalan Batu Sinar.

The victim has been identified as Wong Kwai Yung from Station Road, Kampar.

A disabled driver was parking his car in front of the shop when he accidentally stepped on the gas pedal.

The car then rammed into the cook's stall in front of the restaurant.

Kampar district police chief Supt Hasron Nazri Hashim told Bernama, "Initial investigations found that the disabled man was trying to park his car in front of the restaurant to buy food when he accidentally stepped on the accelerator, with the car hitting the two workers who were cooking at the stall located in front of the restaurant."

While Wong died at the scene from serious head injuries, another restaurant employee was slightly injured on his shoulder and legs. Hasron also noted that there were some customers eating at the restaurant when the accident happened.

The driver and a 42-year-old female passenger who was also in the car escaped without any injuries.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987

The body of the victim has been sent to Kampar Hospital for a post-mortem.
