An Orang Asli man from Gua Musang, Kelantan, has not given up hope that his ailing wife will recover from being in a coma for the past two months

According to Harian Metro, the loving husband, 57-year-old Roslan Hek, has 'set up camp' at Gua Musang Hospital to accompany and care for his wife, who has been unconscious and bedridden since she was admitted for chronic high blood pressure two months ago.

"I keep praying that she will recover, and since she fell sick, I've never left her side," said Roslan.

His wife, Hamisah Batu, is in her 40s and was previously taken to Sultan Ismail Petra Hospital in Kuala Krai after complaining of feeling sick and having severe headaches.

Roslan said Hamisah was warded there for three weeks before being transferred to Gua Musang Hospital where she currently is

"I am fully responsible for my wife's well-being since she has been bedridden after complaining of a headache two months ago," he said when met at the hospital on Monday, 13 March.

The father of three said he feeds his wife formulated milk provided by the hospital through a tube through her nose daily, and also helps clean her phlegm throughout the day.

"Apart from that, I wipe her, dispose of her urine, and change her disposable diapers each and every day. While she has been warded, I have never left her alone because there is no one else I can depend on [to take care of her]."

He added that she uses about 10 disposable diapers each week, and he has had sleepless nights worrying about money

"The money for all my wife's needs such as disposable diapers and wet wipes have come out from my own pocket, but I have not worked for two months.

"I spend about RM200 a month for her needs, but I'm becoming worried thinking about our finances.

"For many, RM200 may be a small amount, but for us Orang Asli, we do not have a steady income and we depend on what we can get from the jungle," he related.

As he and his wife have been away from home, Roslan said that their 21-year-old son is taking care of their 12-year-old daughter at home in Kampung Aring 5

Meanwhile, his oldest son, who is in his 30s, is married and has his own family to take care of.

"On Sunday, I felt so happy to see a positive reaction from my wife. She had tears rolling down her cheeks.

"When we are allowed to return home, I will continue to take care of her," added Roslan, who has been married to Hamisah for close to 30 years.
