PDRM Finds Large Arsenal Of Air Guns & Knives While Arresting Shaman For Assaulting GF
The suspect became a shaman after taking over his father's job of running a temple.
The Royal Police Malaysia (PDRM) found a large collection of air guns and knives while arresting a shaman who assaulted his girlfriend in Kampung Cheras Baru, Kuala Lumpur
The incident happened at 1.50am on Sunday, 28 May, when the 42-year-old girlfriend confronted the 45-year-old man over a photo of him with another woman that was found on Facebook, reported Utusan Malaysia.
Ampang Jaya district police chief ACP Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the suspect then picked up a helmet to hit the victim's face and head.
"The victim cried and went to the temple next to the house to avoid being hit again," Harian Metro quoted him as saying.
"Shortly after that, the suspect threw a wooden chair at the victim, then used the pieces of the broken chair to strangle her until she began to suffocate.
"The frightened victim then [escaped] and came to make a report at the Pandan Indah police station for further action," said Mohamad Farouk.
Upon receiving the report, police officers and members of the Ampang Jaya Criminal Investigation Division (BSJD) arrested the suspect in front of his house at 8.10pm on the same day
"The inspection (at the suspect's residence) resulted in the seizure of 15 guns of various types, including air guns and binoculars, rifles resembling crossbows, two blades, a knife, five machetes, five gas tanks, five small gas canisters (filled in the guns), a box containing arrows, and four cans of iron ball bearings, among others," said Mohamad Farouk.
The suspect tested negative for drugs in a urine screening, but was found to have a past criminal record.
The suspect admitted to owning the air guns, claiming he uses them for his hobby of hunting squirrels and birds
He said he bought them on an e-commerce platform.
China Press reported the police as saying that although these firearms are used to hunt small animals, they can also cause casualties when fired at close range.
According to the Chinese daily, the suspect worked as a vendor selling fried bihun near his house. He also took over his father's legacy of running a temple, which is also his home.
The suspect is said to be a shaman, just like his father used to be. However, after his father fell ill, the burden of the job fell on him.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon, Section 36 of the Arms Act 1960 for the possession of imitation guns, and Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958 for possessing offensive weapons in public places.
