Heavy rain has caused the East Coast Expressway (LPT1) on both bounds, between Gambang and Sri Jaya in Kuantan, to be cut off to all vehicles due to a flooded stretch at KM198, according to photos

A New Straits Times' report stated Pahang Basic Amenities, Public Delivery System, and Innovations Committee chairman Datuk Seri Norol Azali Sulaiman saying that the affected stretched was flooded at about 8.40am Sunday, 3 January.

"The section is completely impassable to east and westbound traffic, between Gambang and Sri Jaya. Water along the road shoulder has spilled onto the dual-carriageway," he said.

Flooding has affected the emergency, slow, and fast lanes, too

According to the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM), the emergency, slow, and fast lanes at KM198 of the LPT1 are also impassable after heavy rain across the state since Thursday triggered floods in Maran and Rompin.

Flooding has also forced those living in low-lying areas to be evacuated.
