Police in Kelantan have arrested a woman on suspicion of murder after a man who allegedly kidnapped and raped her was found dead in front of a public toilet in Kuala Krai, Kelantan on Monday, 1 April

Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhammad Zaki Harun said the woman, 28, was arrested to assist in a murder probe under Section 302 of the Penal Code, reported the New Straits Times.

Several local media outlets reported that the woman stabbed the man, 45, three times in his abdomen with a vegetable knife after he allegedly raped her in Manek Urai, Kuala Krai.

"Initial investigations found that the 45-year-old victim had stab wounds on the abdomen but no traces of blood were found at the scene," Muhammad Zaki was quoted as saying yesterday, 3 April.

According to the Kelantan police chief, the man was being investigated under Section 342 of the Penal Code for forcefully taking the woman from Terengganu to Kuala Krai.

The deceased also has several criminal and drug offences on his record, Muhammad Zaki said.

The man was stabbed last Thursday, 28 March, after he forcefully took the woman to several locations around the Kuala Krai district

"The [man's] remains are now at the Sultan Ismail Petra Hospital for an autopsy, and the doctor has confirmed that the cause of death is due to the stab wounds," Muhamad Zaki said.

According to him, the man did not seek treatment, leading to bacterial infection.

He also said that the man ran away after the woman managed to free herself from his clutches.
