Recently, a food delivery rider set an auxiliary police patrol car ablaze in Mutiara Damansara. He then posted a video on TikTok, showing himself standing in front of the burning car while giving a peace sign.

The 25-year-old man allegedly committed the arson in the wee hours of 15 February.

In the five-second video, the man showed himself with the burning patrol car. An embedded caption in Bahasa Melayu stated that he was "satisfied after burning a police car".

He also used the hashtag #polistakdekeje to insinuate that the police have nothing better to do.

The suspect was arrested barely 10 hours after posting the video, with police stating that fame was the motive behind the man's actions

Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Mohd Fakhrudin Abd Hamid said this was revealed after the delivery rider was apprehended at a flat in Flora Damansara yesterday afternoon, reported the New Straits Times.

The suspect is believed to have used a Molotov cocktail (a petrol bomb) to set the patrol car ablaze. He has no previous criminal record but tested positive for morphine during a urine test, Fakhrudin stated.

He said police seized several tools, including a sledgehammer, adding that they are also investigating whether the man is linked to any political party or extremist group due to the vulgarities he spray-painted on the glass walls of the bus stop, reported Malaysiakini.

The case is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code for the deliberate destruction of property using fire or explosives. If found guilty, the offence is punishable by imprisonment for up to 14 years and a fine.
