Prime Minister Shows Off His Singing Skills In Sabah And Malaysians Are Impressed
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim won the hearts of the viewers when he passed a rose to his wife.
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim impressed the nation with his skillful singing at a dinner in Sabah yesterday, 28 February
In the video uploaded by Sabah-based newspaper Daily Express on Twitter, the Prime Minister is seen singing the song Azizah by P Ramlee, as if dedicating it to his wife, whose name is also Azizah.
The caption of the video jokingly stated that when the 10th Prime Minister comes to Sabah, he doesn't make a speech but sings instead.
Rose in hand, Anwar sings confidently as the crowd cheers him on. He passes the flower to his wife towards the end of the song as a romantic gesture.
Anwar arrived in Sabah on a two-day business trip and attended a dinner with the leaders of the state
According to New Straits Times, Anwar attended a dinner with Sabah state leaders at a renowned hotel in Kota Kinabalu last night.
The Prime Minister and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, arrived at around 8pm, and were accompanied by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and his wife, Datin Seri Julia Salag.
The dinner featured live performances of nostalgic Malay songs, including Hati Lebur Jadi Debu and Madu Dan Racun.
Locals all over had mixed reactions about how the Prime Minister spent his evening
Many joked that a visit to Sabah is not complete without a karaoke session with one commenting, "That's how it is in Sabah, it's not official until you're asked to sing."
Many users enjoyed the performance and said that the Prime Minister and his wife make a beautiful couple.
"Wow, loving couple. May (God) bless them and all the people of Malaysia," opined a user.
Amidst the numerous praise, however, some users felt that the post was unnecessary.
"Why (do you) have to sing (when) the citizens are struggling... Come cry with us," commented a user.
