Malaysia Records 6 New Deaths Due To COVID-19 As It Moves Into Third Wave
All deaths were recorded in Sabah, with all six patients aged 54 and above.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) recorded 354 new COVID-19 cases in the country today, 9 October
According to the MOH official Twitter account, 352 local transmissions and two imported cases were confirmed. This is the ninth consecutive day that the country has recorded three-digit figures.
Majority of the cases were recorded in Sabah with 274 new cases, Selangor with 24 new cases, and Sarawak with 10.The MOH has also recorded three new clusters - one each in Sabah, Perak, and Terengganu.
The country recorded six new deaths within the last 24 hours
All deaths were reported in Sabah, with all six patients aged 54 and above.
The total death count in the country is now 152, or 1.03% of the total cumulative cases.
With the latest cases, Malaysia's total cumulative number of COVID-19 infections rose to 14,722
There are also currently 3,863 active cases in the country.
Among them, 68 COVID-19 patients are in Intensive Care Units (ICU) and 25 require ventilator assistance.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said yesterday, 8 October, on his personal Facebook account that Malaysia is currently entering the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, and reminded the public to once again join forces to break the chain of the infection.
With the recent increase of cases, MOH has also announced that COVID-19 press briefings will be conducted daily again.
