This stunning gold-coloured building will soon be home to Sarawak's Museum Complex (SMC)

Viral photos taken by Instagram user Thomas Tong have been making rounds on Facebook.

According to his Instagram post, Tong took the photos using a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone.

The new Sarawak Museum Complex will be the largest museum building in Malaysia, and the second largest in Southeast Asia

Construction on the RM308 million complex began in 2015. It is designed to complement another iconic building in Sarawak: the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly complex.

The Sarawak Tribune reported that the complex will have five floors - a cafeteria on the ground floor, a children's gallery on the first floor, and exhibition areas on the remaining three floors.

However, the public will have to wait until September 2020 for SMC to be fully ready and operational

Although the complex has been fully constructed and will be handed over to the state government this month, The Borneo Post reported that the museum's historical artefacts will need to be moved back into the building and its descriptions accurately displayed.

Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth, and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah also hinted that the complex may have a new name when its opening day comes around.

In the meantime, keep yourself busy by visiting these places for a change:
