Selangor caretaker Menteri Besar (MB) Amirudin Shari has announced that Monday, 14 August will be declared a public holiday if the Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional (PH-BN) coalition wins the state election

"If we win the Selangor state election and form the state government, we agree to declare 14 August, which is the coming Monday, a public holiday for the entire state," he said in his 'Amanat Khas' live broadcast.

"The state election on 12 August is an important date in the history of Selangor. You (Selangor voters) will decide the state's future for the next five years," he said today, 11 August.

Amirudin emphasised the pivotal choice between a coalition committed to sustained development and excellence, and another that appears to seek political instability without a clear vision for progress.

In his address, which was broadcast live on his Facebook page, Amirudin urged voters to cast their votes objectively by setting aside emotions and personal biases.

Amirudin promised that the PH-BN coalition will fulfil the pledges outlined in its election manifesto, including initiatives that will be implemented within the first 100 days of forming the state government

According to him, the implementation of the '5 Tekat, 5 Tahun' initiatives marks a significant step forward in Selangor's commitment to its citizens.

Among these measures are tax exemptions specifically targeted at low-cost houses and traditional rumah kampung dwellings, which underscore the coalition's commitment to tackle housing affordability issues and uphold local heritage preservation.

Additionally, he said that the provision of RM200 worth of Kita Selangor book vouchers for 1,000 university students, investing in the education of the next generation, is essential for the state's long-term progress.

If Selangor voters entrust the administration with another term, Amirudin said these initiatives have the potential to create a positive impact on various aspects of life in the state, demonstrating a thoughtful and comprehensive approach aimed at improving the lives of the people.
