S'porean Tourist's Honda Civic Type R Goes Missing From Genting Highlands' Parking Lot
The car was last seen driving down Genting Highlands at 2.43am on 16 July.
A man from Singapore got his car stolen when he left it parked at Genting Highlands SkyAvenue's car park for a day
According to a Facebook post by SG Road Vigilante, the man drove to Genting Highlands in his Honda Civic Type R on 15 July.
He then parked his car at the Genting Highlands SkyAvenue shopping mall car park. When he returned to retrieve it on the evening of 16 July, his car was no longer there.
Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage caught the car being driven down the Genting Highlands mountain at 2am.
The SkyAvenue car park is also shared with First World Hotel, where the man stayed with his girlfriend
The 28-year-old man, who goes by Damien, told Mothership that he and his girlfriend were in Genting Highlands for a visit along with his six other friends.
It was only when they were planning to take the car to have dinner that he realised his car was missing.
After thoroughly searching every corner of the car park for over two hours, Damien and his friends were still unsuccessful.
He alleged that apart from sending out five motorcycles to comb through the car park, First World Hotel's management was "not helpful at all".
He further claimed that the management responded by saying, "Lost items are not our problem."
He has since made a police report on the matter, but as of writing, the police are still unable to locate the car
The most they have been able to provide Damien is surveillance footage of the thief driving his car.
The stolen vehicle was spotted tailgating another car through the car park exit, while other footage shows it travelling down Genting Highlands at 2.43am on 16 July.
He added that, based on the CCTV footage he saw, there were no signs of forced entry. He even recalled that he used a manual steering lock in order to prevent the car from being towed.
Malaysian police also allegedly told Damien that a day before his car was stolen, a Toyota Hilux was also stolen from the car park.
