Snatch Thief In Serdang Gets Instant Payback And Falls Into Drain After Stealing A Phone

A snatch thief in Serdang got instant payback when he fell into a drain after stealing a teenager's phone yesterday, 29 October
According to Harian Metro, the incident took place around 5.30pm at Jalan Sekolah in Seri Kembangan.
The suspect approached a 17-year-old girl who was talking on the phone and snatched the device from her.
While fleeing the scene, his motorcycle plunged into the drain.
Serdang district police chief ACP Razali Abu Samah told Malaysia Gazette, "During the incident, the victim was talking on the phone before the suspect approached her from behind."
"The 34-year-old suspect snatched the student's phone and caused her to scream for help. This led the suspect to panic and quickly drive off in his motorcycle. He then lost control of the motorcycle and plunged into a drain not far from the scene," he explained.
Razali also noted that the suspect was apprehended by members of the public before he was handed over to the police for further action.

According to Berita Harian, the suspect has been sent to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.
Meanwhile, authorities also found that he was carrying several mobile phones believed to have been stolen and a few packets of substances believed to be drugs.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code and police have confirmed that the suspect has four previous criminal records.
