Teacher Catches Father In PJ Hitting Daughter With Wooden Cane During Online Class
The police report said the father was angry at his 12-year-old daughter for not paying attention in class.
A school teacher made a police report after witnessing one of her students being beaten by their father with a wooden cane during online class
According to Harian Metro, Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the 36-year-old Shah Alam primary school teacher made the report on 31 October, the same day that she saw the incident.
"According to the report, the teacher informed that she saw her student getting hit by her father with a piece of wood or cane on the back of the victim's body," Nik Ezanee said in a statement on Thursday, 5 November.
Following the report, the police arrested the suspect at a carpark in Section 8, Petaling Jaya on Wednesday, 4 November
"The suspect admitted to hitting his child and said he did so to ensure she would be more attentive during class," said the police chief, as quoted by The Star.
He added that the suspect had no prior records and had been released on bail due to health issues.
The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for child abuse
Meanwhile, Nik Ezanee added that the Social Welfare Department (JKM) has made an evaluation and decided to return the child back to her family.
Asking for help is not a sign of weakness.
