Vellfire Crash Kills JDT Striker Syafiq Ahmad's 22-Day-Old Son And 2 Women

There were two more fatalities reported in the accident that happened earlier Sunday morning.

Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) striker Muhammad Syafiq Ahmad with his family was involved in an accident that happened on Sunday morning, 6 December at the North South Expressway (NSE) in Nibong Tebal

Photos of the accident show the vehicle, a black Toyota Vellfire, was badly damaged in the crash.

It is believed that the driver of the Vellfire lost control and rammed the guardrail in the accident that happened before 5.30am, based on the emergency call received by Penang Fire and Rescue Department.

In the accident, the JDT striker lost his infant son, who was barely 22 days old. Photos showed Syafiq in tears, holding his dead son.

There were two more fatalities reported in the accident.

While one of the victims was Syafiq's mother-in-law Zainab Wahab, aged 45, the other victim was an Indonesian Titik Sukamti, in her 30s.

The JDT striker and his daughter, Aaira Nur Saffiyya, aged two, escaped with minor injuries, while his wife, Nur Amalina Nur Ain, aged 25, was seriously injured.

According to a spokesman from the state Fire and Rescue Department, they arrived at the scene 10 minutes after receiving the call

"There were six victims, three were saved, while three others were pinned inside the vehicle. Fire-fighters, in full PPE, removed those trapped inside the vehicle using special tools," he said.

They managed to extricate the victims from the damaged vehicle at 6.10am.
