Yesterday, 11 June, a video of an 11-year-old boy driving a Proton Saga along Jalan Banting in Klang, Selangor went viral on social media

In the one-minute video, a silver Proton Saga is seen moving slowly along the main road before turning right into a compound.

The car then stops in front of a few boys, who are believed to be the 11-year-old's friends, as he winds down the window to have a brief conversation with them.

The child's peers were shocked by his actions.

"Do you want to die, stupid?" asked one of his friends.

However, the boy appeared to be unfazed by his friends' comments and continued driving along.

According to Free Malaysia Today, the incident occurred around 6pm last Friday, 9 June.

The boy in the video has since been arrested, together with his 49-year-old father, by the South Klang police from their home in Pandaraman, Klang

South Klang police chief ACP Cha Hoong Fong said in a statement that the father-son duo were brought to the traffic police station of the district headquarters for further questioning.

"The Proton Saga seen in the viral video was also seized," explained Cha.

The case is being investigated under Section 39(1) and Section 111 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for restriction on driving by young persons and abetment of offences.

Besides that, the case is also being probed under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for neglect of children.

Cha encouraged parents to actively monitor their children, to ensure they avoid endangering themselves or causing damage to people's property.
