Police are looking for a man suspected of setting his wife's car on fire in the middle of a road in Johor on Sunday night, 2 February
Dashcam footage of the incident has gone viral, showing a white Toyota Vellfire stopping in front of a white Toyota Vios. A man is seen emerging from the Vellfire, then proceeds to douse the Vios with petrol and set it alight.
Four occupants can be seen escaping the car just as it burst into flames.
The suspect, believed to be the victim's 25-year-old husband, allegedly set her car on fire following a domestic dispute
In a statement yesterday, 3 February, Johor Bahru (South) police chief ACP Raub Selamat confirmed the incident took place at a traffic light intersection on Jalan Tebrau, near Columbia Asia Hospital.
The 21-year-old victim lodged a police report at 1.33am at the Majidee police station.
The case is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code for mischief by fire with intent to cause damage
"The suspect fled in his Toyota Vellfire. The victim suffered an estimated loss of RM90,000, but no injuries were reported," Raub added.
