[VIDEO] Seremban Man Chokes & Harasses Shop Employee For Asking Him To Put On A Mask
Police found that the man also failed to check his temperature and submit personal details prior to entering the premises.
A man in Seremban was recently caught on camera physically and verbally assaulting a minimart employee
Two videos made their rounds on social media and one post by popular Facebook page Info Roadblock JPJ/POLIS garnered over 16,000 views.
The incident took place at a minimart in Senawang, Seremban.
Footage shows the customer aggressively yelling at a worker and furiously choking him.
It is believed that the man was angered after the employee asked him to put on a mask.
In one of the videos, the caption read, "Aiya, we asked to put on a mask, but we got hit instead."
The customer can be seen screaming in the worker's face as well as pushing him and shoving him around. Meanwhile, the employee remains calm and gestures apologies with his hands.
In another video, the customer can be seen grabbing the worker by the neck and choking him while onlookers stood by. He then releases the worker and yells several times before leaving.
The customer has since been arrested by local police
According to Sinar Harian, the suspect has been identified as a 50-year-old man. Seremban district police chief ACP Mohd Said Ibrahim said, "The police received a report regarding the incident from the 22-year-old victim who is also an employee at the store around 12.33pm on Sunday, 18 April."
"Investigations found that the victim had called out the suspect for not wearing a mask, not recording his temperature, and failure to jot down his personal details in the book prepared at the store," he added.
The case will be investigated under Sections 506 and 323 of the Penal Code. The man will also be compounded for failure to abide by COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342).
