Video Shows Masjid India Manhole Covers 'Dancing' During Heavy Rainstorm
Be careful out there!
A video showing manhole covers on Jalan Masjid India bouncing up and down during a heavy downpour has gone viral on TikTok
The 21-second clip, posted by TikTok user Lakshmi Karthick, shows a couple of extremely heavy cement manhole covers being lifted and shifted by the force of water surging beneath them.
In the caption, she warned people to be cautious when walking around the famous tourist spot, especially since a recent sinkhole appeared and swallowed a tourist alive.
The video has sparked concerns about public safety
In the comments, many expressed their fears about the potential danger to those in the area.
"The water pressure underneath is so scary. The water must be moving rapidly," commented one user, with another adding, "An unwanted incident may occur again. Hopefully, the authorities take initiative."
"My goodness, the cement manhole covers are really heavy but here, it is just bouncing," said a user, while others questioned why businesses in the area continued to operate despite the obvious risks.
"It's strange to see people still doing business in that area. Who will they blame if something goes wrong? Do you want safety or profit?"
Since the first sinkhole in Masjid India, multiple other sinkholes have appeared in different locations across Malaysia:
