Woman In Penang Arrested For Filing Fake Police Report Because She Wanted To Skip Work
She told the police she had been robbed by two men.
A woman in Bukit Mertajam, Penang was recently nabbed by authorities for filing a false police report
Harian Metro reported that the 28-year-old factory worker declared that she was robbed by two men while riding her motorcycle.
According to Seberang Perai Tengah district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid, the woman said that the robbers fled with her wallet that contained an identification card (IC), a driver's license, RM150 in cash, an office pass, and an ATM card.
While investigating the alleged robbery, police discovered that she had previously filed three similar reports
Nik Ros Azhan said, "We were investigating the case according to Section 395 of the Penal Code for unarmed gang-robbery."
"After going through her previous reports, we found that the details of all the incidents were very similar," he added.
He also explained that the woman acted suspicious when she was asked to identify the scene of the crime.
In the end, the woman admitted that she filed a false report because she did not want to go to work
Harian Metro wrote that police officers found the items she reported as stolen in her motorcycle carrier.
She was then taken to Central Seberang Perai District Police Headquarters for questioning.
The case is currently being investigated according to Section 182 of the Penal Code.
