The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) published incomes of Members of Parliament (MPs) on its website today, 1 November

Malaysiakini reported that figures shown on the website are the monthly income of the lawmakers, and not their joint family income.

While the list is incomplete at the time of writing, MACC has assured that it will be updated once technical problems are resolved.

Selangau MP Baru Bian initially topped the list with a monthly income of RM108,056. However, he has since clarified that he over-declared his assets.

He has clarified to Malaysiakini that he estimates his own worth at RM78,000.

“I can't beat Lim Guan Eng. The real amount should be much lower, RM78,000 around there,” Baru said.

Baru Bian is also serving as the Works Minister, and was the first leader of Sarawak's Lun Bawang community to be appointed to the Cabinet.

In third place is Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, with a monthly income of RM77,629.88.

Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad came in fourth on the list with RM75,861.57, while Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail gets RM59,048.33

It is stated that Mahathir's wife Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah and Wan Azizah's husband Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim have declared their assets as well.

Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir and Nurul Izzah are not on the list at the time of writing.

According to Malaysiakini, the monthly pay for the Prime Minister position is currently about RM20,543.99

The figure was deduced from past cabinet salary figures, along with the 10% pay cut for ministers which was announced in May.

The Deputy Prime Minister earns approximately RM16,351.33, while ministers receive about RM13,416.48 per month.

The list currently contains income details of 80 MPs.
