5 Dumpling Places In Manila That Won’t Bust Your Budget

Because eating dumplings shouldn't just happen on Chinese New Year!

Almost every Pinoy loves Chinese food! You can even ask anyone you bumped into inside the MRT and you'll get a lot of suggestions!

But, to make it convenient for you (and to protect your personal space – if there's still any), here are the top Chinese restaurants that serve the best dumplings in Manila!

Lan Zhou La Mien

Lan Zhou La Mien is not only known for its hand-pulled noodles, but from their dumplings, too! Their steamed dumplings are worth P160 for 15 pieces while their Fried Dumplings are worth P180 for 15 pieces.

Their Soup Dumpling is for sharing between two to three people, but it's very cheap at P160! If you want to opt for the frozen ones, they offer an affordable price of P140 for 16 pieces of homemade dumplings!

Tasty Dumplings

Feel free to get tempted because Tasty Dumplings stand true to its name! Popular for their rice plates (Porkchop, Spareribs, or Hongma rice anyone?), they are one of the restaurants in Binondo that serve the most affordable Chinese food!

They have very filling selections like their steamed dumplings which you can only get for P90! They also offer Steamed Kuchay (P90), Fried dumplings (P99), and Fried Kuchay (P99). If you want to take-out, steam or fry the dumplings yourself, they sell their frozen dumplings at P310 for 31 pieces!

Wai Ying Fastfood

Wai Ying Fastfood is one of the favorite Binondo hangouts that get long lines every single day. But, don't lose your patience and just drop-by early! Their long menu for dimsum might intimidate, but as long as you know what type of meat or vegetable you want to eat, you'll be safe.

They have all types of dumplings that you need. Kuchai, shark's fin, vegetable, chiu-chao, you name it! All are sold between P70 to P90 each. If you are thinking of buying a special viand for your family dinner, better buy their frozen dumplings worth P260 for 14 pieces – very cheap, yes?

Dong Bei Dumpling

Dong Bei Dumpling is very accessible once you are in Binondo since the store is located behind the Binondo church, which is the landmark of Chinatown. Now, what to order?

For only P120 a plate, you get to taste 14 fresh dumplings from Dong Bei Dumpling! Their dumplings are so soft that it melts in your mouth! For vegans, they offer celery, cabbage, and kuchay dumplings. They also sell frozen vegetarian dumplings which is P200 for 31 pieces! If you prefer shrimp dumplings, or hakao, they sell it 10 pieces per plate for P120. Their Dumpling Soup and Dumpling Noodles are sold at P120 each as well. (Ed's Note: I have been eating in Dong Bei for the past 5 years, and the taste never changed!)

Ying Ying Tea House

If you are in search of authentic Chinese food in Binondo, Ying Ying Tea House is always the safe (but undeniably, the best) choice! When you go there, do not be surprised when you see the long line that usually builds up at noon – the food is always worth the wait!

They have the classic dumplings like Kutchay (P70), Shark's Fin (P75), and vegetable dumplings (P70). They also serve in-demand Chinese dishes like Steamed Lumpia (P75), Pork Shrimp Siomai (P75), Shaolong Pao (75) and Hakao (P80).

If that didn't make your mouth water, Ying Ying is also famous for its spareribs (P70) and Chicken Feet (P70) – both are very cheap but didn't compromise the quality!
