The volunteer application system for the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia 2026 is experiencing technical difficulties following a surge in traffic
This follows Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari's announcement that the ministry is looking to recruit 500 volunteers to help out at the F1 race at Sepang International Circuit (SIC) from 2 to 4 October.
In a notice yesterday, 2 September, the National Department of Youth and Sports (JBSN) acknowledged that applicants were facing difficulties accessing the volunteer application system.
According to JBSN, the issue was caused by "extraordinarily high traffic" accessing the MyProfil system, which is managed by the Youth and Sports Ministry's Institute for Youth Research Malaysia (IYRES)
The department said immediate technical action has been taken to restore the application system.
In the meantime, applicants are advised to try accessing the system again from time to time while the issue is being resolved.
JBSN apologised for the inconvenience and thanked members of the public for their support and interest in volunteering at the event.

Dr Mohammed Taufiq previously announced that the ministry is looking for 500 volunteers for the 2026 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at SIC from 2 to 4 October. Another 500 volunteers will also be recruited for the MotoGP race, which is scheduled to take place at the same circuit in October.
Applicants must be Malaysian citizens aged 18 and above, physically fit, disciplined, have integrity, and possess good communication skills.
Selected volunteers will serve under the Department of Youth and Sports through the Rakan Muda initiative in four main areas:
– Customer service
– Ticketing and admissions
– Public relations and ushering
– Area or circuit management
Dr Mohammed Taufiq said registrations will close once 1,000 applications have been received, or on 9 September, whichever comes first.
