Youth & Sports Ministry Opens 500 Volunteer Slots For 2026 Malaysia F1 Grand Prix

The Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) is looking for 500 volunteers to help out at the 2026 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at Sepang International Circuit (SIC) from 2 to 4 October

According to RTM, Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari said applications opened on 2 September and can be submitted online via the MyProfil platform.

He said the opportunity is open to all Malaysians, particularly youths looking to gain experience working at an international sporting event.

"We are opening this opportunity to all Malaysians because an event cannot be successfully organised through good top-level management alone. It also requires the involvement of the public as a whole," he said.

Dr Mohammed Taufiq said the initiative would also give people who may never have visited SIC, especially college and university students, the chance to experience the F1 event from behind the scenes.

"This is a golden opportunity for them to be at SIC, not just as spectators, but as part of the essential workforce helping to make the Bahrain F1 event in Malaysia a success," he said during the launch of the Rakan Muda Volunteer Programme in Putrajaya yesterday, 2 September.

KBS is providing 1,000 volunteer registration slots in total

The first 500 successful applicants will volunteer at the F1 Grand Prix, while the next 500 will be assigned to the MotoGP race, which will also take place in October.

Applicants must be Malaysian citizens aged 18 and above, physically fit, disciplined, have integrity, and possess good communication skills.

Selected volunteers will serve under the Department of Youth and Sports through the Rakan Muda initiative in four main areas:
– Customer service
– Ticketing and admissions
– Public relations and ushering
– Area or circuit management

Dr Mohammed Taufiq said registrations will close once 1,000 applications have been received.

Meanwhile, the minister confirmed that all 10,000 MADANI tickets allocated for the Sepang F1 Grand Prix have been sold out

However, he did not rule out opening additional viewing areas at regular ticket prices.

"So far, there are no additional tickets, and everything allocated has been sold out. For MADANI tickets alone, 10,000 were allocated. If there are any additions, we will announce them, but as of today, there is no increase," he said, reported Bernama.

Based on current ticket sales and the venue's existing capacity, the ministry expects more than 110,000 spectators to attend the event.
