Malaysia's Sivasangari Defeats World No. 2 To Win London Squash Classic
The 25-year-old has won her first PSA World Tour Gold-level title.

Yesterday, 1 April, Sivasangari Subramaniam took down World No. 2 Hania El Hammamy of Egypt to win her first-ever PSA World Tour Gold-level title
She defeated Hammamy in five games at the 2024 London Squash Classics final.
Sivasangari took the first game against Hammamy with aggressive play. However, Hammamy fought back, winning the second game and forcing a tiebreaker in the third. While Sivasangari held championship points in both the third and fourth games, she couldn't convert, allowing Hammamy to force a fifth game, reported PSA World Tour.
An unfazed Sivasangari then dominated the fifth game, winning her first Gold title with an 11-8 victory.
Sivasangari has taken London by storm this week
The 25-year-old defeated World No. 1 and seven-time world champion Nour El Sherbini of Egypt in the quarterfinals and thrashed World No. 4 Nele Gilis of Belgium in the semifinals.
Following her outstanding performance at the London Classic, the Kedah-born lass has climbed three rungs to a career-high No. 13 in the PSA Tour World rankings.
Following her victory yesterday, Sivasangari expressed joy, saying she was pleased with how she defeated three of the top four players
"They are all really good players," she said of her opponents.
"It's huge. The last time I played a Gold event, I lost in the quarter-finals. To even make it to the final is a crazy feeling. This time, to win the tournament I'm so pleased and proud of how I made it," she added.
Sivasangari also thanked her coaches and sponsors.
"I'm very proud of my journey. I'm going to call my family and coaches now. It's because of them that I'm winning tournaments and it's been an unbelievable journey after what happened two years ago," she said, referring to the life-threatening car accident in which her C1 vertebra was fractured.
