Independent shuttler Ng Qi Xuan is appealing to members of the public to stop transferring money to her bank accounts, as she has received enough for her knee surgery

According to the New Straits Times, Ng, 24, dislocated her right knee during the women's doubles semi-finals of the Malaysia Super 100 at Juara Stadium, Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, 19 October.

She subsequently sought public assistance because the surgery was estimated to cost RM30,000, and her insurance did not cover the expense.

"The scan results are out and the results are torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), medial collateral ligament (MCL), posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), my lateral cruciate ligament (LCL) loosened, and a little bit of bone stress fracture.

"To be honest, I was kind of shocked with the results as this is my first major injury. Actually, I wanted to get help from you all. Unfortunately, my insurance company does not cover my case.

"I will need around RM25,000 to RM30,000 for the surgery and hospital bills," The Star quoted her as saying.

Ng added that her parents are retired, and due to her injuries, she is unable to continue coaching to supplement her income.

Following her public plea, the response was overwhelming, leading to her bank temporarily freezing her account due to suspicious activity

Ng later provided a different bank account to continue receiving contributions.

However, in an Instagram post yesterday, 23 October, the shuttler said she had received enough donations to cover the surgery, which had increased to RM60,000.

"I think it is time for me to inform everyone to gradually stop the donation.

"Again, I really couldn't thank you guys enough sincerely. Let's pray for the best for my surgery tomorrow," she wrote in the update post.

It is understood that the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) will support her rehabilitation process after the surgery.
