10 Nostalgic Online Games You Would Have Grown Up With If You're A Gen Z

If you were born between the years of 1997 and 2012 and your childhood consisted of coming home from school and spending hours on the family computer just playing games for hours on end, then hello, this article is for you.

Let's take a walk down memory lane, shall we? Allons-y, Alonso!

Garfield arrives at an old mansion, and it's your job to help him find seven treats hidden throughout the creepy place without maxing out the scare-o-metre.

This game was for the kids who liked the creepy stuff in life. There was even a hidden Easter egg, where you'd find Lyman chained up in the basement, begging for a muffin (Ya know, cos this was a kids game).

You can play Garfield's Scary Scavenger Hunt and its sequel on NuMuKi.

This game was like having a pet fish without the real responsibility. You could decorate the fish tank with fancy coral and shells and later choose from a variety of cute fishes to take care of.

And because it was a Bratz game, everything looked pretty! There was just something about the art style that was so *chef's kiss*. A special shout-out to Bratz Babyz: Ponyz Stylin' Show for also being a solid Bratz game that graced the Internet.

This colourful game let you choose from a variety of alcoholic drinks and ingredients to create the perfect cocktail. The point system was based on how satisfied Miguel the Bartender is with your concoction.

Admittedly, as a kid, I didn't know there was a goal to this game. I just clicked whatever ingredient looked pretty and thought that was it.

"Hello, everybody, my name is Markiplier—"

Okay, as someone who has watched too many videos of Markiplier playing it, Happy Wheels had to make the list. With the ragdoll physics of the characters combined with the crazy obstacles you had to navigate, it was a funny, if not concerningly gory, game.

It had user-generated levels, so some of the levels were quite near impossible to beat. The original game is still available on totaljerkface.com. Just be sure to choose the JavaScript version.

Another gory game that we may have been too young to play…? The goal was to essentially find ways to whack, *cough* kill *cough*, your boss by clicking on the different items around your office — there were 24 in total!

The otherwise monochrome look of the game got pretty red once you selected your weapon of choice. But thankfully, there was a cleaner available to get rid of the evidence and let you start all over again.

A hairstyling game, but make it Barbie. It was a simple game similar to the many dress-up online games we had growing up. You could cut, dye, style, and accessorise Barbie's hair.

Before all the Barbie games were taken down, they used to be available on BarbieGirls.com. Thankfully, though, alternate versions of the games can still be found online on sites like NuMuKi and FlashGirlGames.

Help Zack and Cody hang up the posters promoting their mum's show without getting caught. This online game required good timing, quick reflexes, and stealth.

It was part of the elite Disney games that were very popular in the 2000s. Plus, there was something about the oversized superimposed heads on the characters' bodies that give it a certain charm.

Probably the most classic Flash Player game on this list, Cat VS Dog had the sole objective of throwing projectiles at the animal on the other side of the fence. You could either play against your friend or against the computer. Special items like 'Stink Bomb' and 'Power Up' gave each hit more damage.

It was a simple game, but it kept many of us entertained! You can still play it online on Gimori, or you can download it from the Microsoft Store and App Store.

This was THE makeover game. Choose from Madison, Chelsea, Barbie, or Nolee, and give them a full makeover. You could give them stylish hairstyles, highlights, accessories, and different kinds of makeup.

AND you could even save your final product to be printed (back when that was a thing, lah).

While recreations of the game's second version can still be found online, the original game and its unique art style unfortunately died along with the My Scene website when it shut down in 2014.

Listen, this game made us solve KBAT questions before KBAT questions were even a thing. Flex that higher-order thinking skills to solve 110 seemingly harmless yet mildly infuriating questions designed to trick you.

Each question was not as it seemed, requiring you to really question every possible thing on your screen. Three wrongs, and it's game over.
