ChatGPT Mysteriously Spews Nonsense For Over 16 Hours

On 22 February 2024, ChatGPT users reported on the OpenAI website’s discussion forum that the tool was producing “odd” responses, including made-up words, fragmented sentences, and overall nonsensical language.
ChatGPT reportedly spewed nonsense for 16 hours
In response to concerned users, OpenAI reassured users of the resumption of normal service.
“We are investigating reports of unexpected responses from ChatGPT,” OpenAI said on its status website.

The incident, however, coincides with OpenAI's recent valuation at over USD80 billion and the launch of Sora, a tool for generating realistic videos.
Microsoft's significant investment in OpenAI also highlights the fierce competition within the AI sector.
