We all have those tagged Instagram posts that we actually like, whether it's a nice group photo, a memorable holiday snap, or a collaboration with another creator
The only problem? They usually sit quietly in your Tagged tab instead of making it onto your carefully curated profile grid.
Instagram is now changing that.
The platform has started rolling out a feature that lets you add posts you're tagged in directly to your main profile grid, giving you more control over what appears on your profile.
Once the feature is available on your account, there are a few ways to add a tagged post to your profile
You can select "Add to grid" from the notification you receive when someone tags you, or open the three-dot menu on the tagged post and choose the same option.
You can also do it from your Tagged tab by pressing and holding the post you want to add.
Instagram says the feature could be useful for things like group photos, creator collaborations, and memories, but there's nothing stopping you from adding any tagged post you want to your grid.
Adding a tagged post to your grid doesn't mean you're taking over the original post
The post remains on the original poster's account, while a copy of it is also displayed on your profile grid.
It's worth noting that who can see the post will still depend on the privacy settings of both accounts. So adding something to your grid doesn't necessarily make it visible to everyone.
And if you change your mind later, you can remove the post from your grid without deleting the original post.
By default, tagged posts that you add will appear on your grid in reverse-chronological order
But if you're particular about your Instagram aesthetic, there's some good news: you can rearrange your grid afterwards.
Instagram introduced the ability to reorder posts on profiles earlier this year, allowing users to move posts around regardless of when they were originally published.
The feature is rolling out gradually, so don't panic if the "Add to grid" option isn't showing up on your account just yet.
