London-based tech company Nothing has just unveiled the chipset used in the upcoming Nothing Phone (2a), taking fans by surprise

After numerous rumours circulated across the Internet, fans initially anticipated that the upcoming Nothing Phone (2a) would be equipped with MediaTek's Dimensity 7200 SoC. However, Nothing chief executive officer Carl Pei debunked these rumours with a social media post on X.

Check out the X post below:

Today, Nothing has revealed that the Phone (2a) will run on a bespoke version of the Dimensity 7200 Pro system-on-a-chip (SoC).

The custom Dimensity 7200 Pro aims to elevate the user experience of the Nothing Phone (2a)

The processor of the Nothing Phone (2a), crafted using TSMC's advanced second-generation 4nm process technology, delivers exceptional performance, top-notch power efficiency, and rapid speeds.

The Nothing Phone (2a) features an eight-core chip with speeds reaching up to 2.8 GHz, coupled with up to a massive 20GB of RAM through innovative RAM Booster technology. This ensures smooth and quick multitasking throughout the day, resulting in an 18% performance boost and a 16% improvement in battery efficiency compared to the Phone (1).

Nothing has also introduced Smart Clean technology for the Phone (2a), which regularly tidies up disorganised file fragments, enhancing the device's read and write speeds. This optimisation ensures that the Phone (2a) maintains its day-one speed and responsiveness, even after extensive usage over the years.

The Phone (2a) will be launched on 5 March

Nothing has yet to officially reveal the Phone (2a), but that is about to change with the 'Fresh Eyes' Phone (2a) launch event scheduled for 5 March, at 7.30pm Malaysia time. If you're interested in tuning in to the 'Fresh Eyes' launch event, you can find more information on the official website.
