You Can Now Use Your Wise Card To Pay With DuitNow QR In Malaysia

Paying with DuitNow QR is now easier for Wise users

Wise has officially connected to Malaysia's national payments network, PayNet, allowing users to scan and make payments using DuitNow QR codes directly through the Wise app.

This means you can pay at participating merchants by scanning a DuitNow QR code without having to switch to a local banking or e-wallet app.

You can also send money using a phone number or NRIC

Wise has also added support for DuitNow Transfer, allowing users to send money using a recipient's mobile number or NRIC instead of their bank account number.

Before the transfer is completed, Wise will display the recipient's name so you can verify that you're sending money to the right person.

The feature is designed to make local transfers quicker while reducing the risk of sending money to the wrong person.

Once the feature is available on your app, simply open the Card tab in Wise, swipe to Pay with QR code, and scan a participating DuitNow QR code to make your payment.

You can also upload a saved QR code from your phone instead of scanning one live.

The DuitNow QR payment feature is being released gradually, so not everyone will see it in their Wise app just yet

Wise says support will continue expanding over the coming weeks until it works with DuitNow QR merchants nationwide.

Malaysia is now the ninth market globally, and the fifth in the Asia-Pacific region, where Wise has gained direct access to a domestic payment network

Yen Ting Chiam, Wise Malaysia's country manager, said the move is part of the company's goal to make everyday payments simpler and remove friction from how people move money.

For those who already use Wise to hold multiple currencies or travel regularly, it's another feature that makes spending in Malaysia a little more seamless.
