The SU7 is the most unexpected EV to be revealed to the public.
The Xiaomi SU7 super-sedan electric car will be launched later this month
The highly-anticipated Xiaomi SU7 — which stands for Speed Ultra 7 — electric vehicle (EV) will be launching this month, following its first introduction to the public in December of last year.
Yesterday, 13 March, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in China disclosed information regarding the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) version of this vehicle, emphasising Xiaomi's adherence to regulatory standards and paving the way for its upcoming market launch scheduled for 28 March.
Despite being the inaugural car from a smartphone manufacturer, the SU7 impresses in every aspect
The SU7 RWD model is equipped with an engine that delivers a maximum power output of 220kW and torque of 400Nm. Its RWD setup enables remarkable acceleration, reaching 100km/h from a standstill in a mere 5.28 seconds.
Sporting a sleek and aerodynamic design, the Xiaomi SU7 RWD version aims for optimal efficiency and performance, boasting a low drag coefficient of only 0.195Cd. Additionally, its battery packs a capacity of 73.6kWh, granting an impressive range of 668km, according to the CLTC (China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle) standard.
The SU7 boasts dimensions slightly larger than those of the Porsche Taycan, a vehicle often compared to it.
Measuring 4,997mm in length, 1,963mm in width, and 1,455mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3000mm, the SU7 offers ample space. It features a sizeable 105-litre trunk and a 517-litre boot space, providing practical storage solutions for various needs.
Despite the imminent launch of the SU7, Xiaomi has yet to announce whether it will be available in Malaysia
It might be a while before it arrives available on Malaysian shores. However, with the rapid proliferation of EV infrastructure in the country, the SU7 may become available sooner than we think.
