A mother was left stunned after learning that her 11-year-old daughter had distributed RM3,000 among her classmates at school

The surprising revelation came when a teacher contacted the mother to inform her of the unexpected generosity displayed by her young daughter.

The mother, who shared her story on Threads under the username @cikdat_, expressed her disbelief and concern over the incident.

She wondered how her 11-year-old daughter could be giving away RM20, RM50, and RM100 bills, when she only gives her RM5 every day.

"I was in tears when I heard about this," the mother wrote, "RM3,000 is not an easy amount to earn, and my daughter was giving it away so freely."

"I was also stuck thinking, 'Where did she get so much cash?'" she added.

However, as the mother found out about the incident on a Friday, the teacher suggested that she meet with their disciplinary teacher on the coming Monday to discuss the matter further

At home, the mother asked her daughter about the cash.

Upon questioning, she discovered that the money her eldest daughter had taken was part of all her children's duit Raya savings.

"I figured out that she took the duit Raya because she only had large bills," said the mum.

Finally, the mother eventually learned that her daughter's actions were inspired — although misguidedly — by the mother's own behaviour

"She assured me that she wasn't bullied into giving her friends the money. She explained that she just wanted to give it to them because they looked happy when she did," the mother wrote.

"My daughter then told me that she just wanted to be like me. She said she always sees me giving money to others, like her grandparents and cousins. 'When Mummy gives them money, they look happy and hug Mummy, so I wanted to be like Mummy', she said.

"Plus, I'm a Takaful insurance agent. When I visit clients, I often bring her along with me and I would give clients cheques for large amounts of money. She said she wanted to be like me," said the exasperated mother.

However, she now understood that her 11-year-old just wanted to replicate acts of generosity, and took the opportunity to explain to her daughter about giving charity and taking money without permission.

She also clarified to her daughter that her work in insurance involved more than just giving away money and that financial decisions require careful consideration.
