Will You Bring Zahid Hamidi Home? This Cat Shelter Has Interesting Naming Choices

The post by Galeri Animal Malaysia, made on 18 May, revealed that the adorable cats were named after Malaysian politicians Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi.

"The felines are very polite with soft characters. They are very credible. All of their movements are very elegant," wrote the shelter. 

In the comments section, Galeri Animal Malaysia explained that the names were given as a strategy for the cats to gain attention from netizens.

In a follow-up post, the cat shelter wrote that Najib Razak, who became the subject of attention these past few days, has now been adopted by a family from Taman Datuk Harun, Petaling Jaya.

"Najib is a very good and friendly feline throughout the care of Galeri Animal Malaysia. We hope that his new family will love Najib wholeheartedly in keeping with his lovable personality," wrote Galeri Animal Malaysia.

Check out the shelter's Facebook page to see more furry friends with interesting names up for adoption, including ones named after legendary Malaysian warriors Hang Tuah and Hang Jebat, as well as Indonesian singers Melly Goslow and Luna Maya.

Galeri Animal Malaysia is open for walk-ins from 11am until 6pm.
