Kedah Teacher Who Built Bowling Alley For Students Expands Project With Sponsorship
Well deserved.
Wan Roslan Wan Ishak, a primary school teacher who gained attention in April for setting up makeshift bowling alleys for his students to use during break time, has now expanded the initiative with government support
Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh took notice of his efforts earlier this year and pledged RM20,000 to help him build more bowling alleys at SK Nami in Kedah.
Speaking to SAYS, Wan Roslan shared that he has since used the funds to build five additional lanes, along with five rails that act as gutters, and buy five trolleys, nine bowling balls, and three bowling ball bags, among other equipment.

Wan Roslan had initially set up a few bowling lanes for his students to practise during break times, realising that weekend bowling sessions weren't enough for them
Each lane cost him around RM1,000 to build, as bowling equipment isn't cheap. While some donations helped, much of the funding came from his own pocket.
He also shared fun TikTok videos of the students enjoying the sport, and was surprised by the overwhelming positive feedback they received.
What he didn't expect, however, was that Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh would personally reach out to support his initiative.
