Perched in the picturesque hills of Negros Occidental, this giant chicken hotel at Campuestohan Highland Resort has clucked its way into the Guinness World Records, making quite the statement.

Named Manok ni Cano Gwapo, this eye-popping, six-storey structure measures 12m in width, 28m in length, and 35m tall!

The entire building took 456 days to build, from June 2023 to September 2024

It was officially crowned by Guinness World Records as the largest and only chicken-shaped building in the world on 8 September 2024.

According to Guinness, with the region's typhoons and storms, creating a structure that could weather the elements was no easy feat.

The man behind the creation is Ricardo "Cano Gwapo" Tan, who didn't just create it to make visitors smile. For him, this project is a heartfelt tribute to Negros Occidental's gamefowl industry, which stepped in to support the local economy when the sugar trade struggled.

"Negros Occidental has a gamefowl industry that employs millions of people in the Philippines. If you look at a rooster, it looks calm and commanding, imposing and strong, which reflects the attitude of our people," Tan said, according to the Guinness World Records.

He wanted to create a landmark that not only celebrates this cultural heritage but also leaves a lasting impression on visitors.

The hotel features 15 rooms, equipped with air-conditioning, televisions, and large beds that can accommodate small or large families or groups

It also has a viewing deck, offering visitors a bird's eye view of the surroundings.

If you're game to experience this quirky hotel, room rates start at 4,500 pesos (RM342) per night.
