5 Food Delivery Riders Who Allegedly Kicked A Man To Death Charged With Murder
They kicked him while all four of the victim's limbs were tied.
A group of five motorcyclists, who assaulted a motorist by kicking him while four of his limbs were tied, have been jointly charged with the murder of the man in Taman Pelangi, Semenyih 2, on 20 February
All five of them are food delivery riders.
They were identified as Syamsul Qamar Ayob, 40, Mahazir Nordin, 43, Azharul Azuan Mohd Azan, 34, Tengku Izham Tengku Hamid, 22, and Mohd Yuree Ranoff Mohd Bachuri, 41, according to the New Straits Times.
The five accused were charged earlier today, 27 February, at the Bandar Baru Bangi magistrate's court. However, no plea was recorded as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
When asked if they understood the charges against them, all five accused nodded in affirmation.
They were alleged to have murdered Shahril Samad, a self-employed man, following a collision between his grey Proton Saga and a delivery rider
According to the charge sheet, the incident occurred at Jalan TPS 2/3 Taman Pelangi, Semenyih.
On the night of the incident, Shahril's car skidded and crashed into a residential area's fence. Subsequently, he was allegedly dragged from his car, tied up, and beaten by a group of delivery riders.
All five of them have been charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, read together with Section 34 of the same code. The charge carries the death penalty or imprisonment between 30 to 40 years. If not sentenced to death, they must also be punished with a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane upon conviction.

The court has fixed 25 April for the submission of forensic status, chemical, and post-mortem examination reports
Deputy public prosecutor Siti Nur Liyana Mohd Sulaiman was prosecuting the case, while lawyer Mohd Hafiz represented all the five accused. No bail was granted.
