A video showing a 61-year-old father carrying his adult daughter up four flights of stairs when she couldn't walk has brought netizens to tears

The video was posted on TikTok by 31-year-old Nadzirah Ibrahim, who shared that she was unable to walk after fracturing her right thighbone in a car accident in February 2022.

She couldn't put weight on her injured leg as she had to recover from surgeries involving metal rods to stabilise her bone.

While she is currently in the process of recovery and can walk with the help of a cane, Nadzirah told Harian Metro that she made the video compilation of her father carrying her up the stairs over the past two years to show her appreciation for him.

Nadzirah said her parents live on the fourth floor of an apartment building in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya, which does not have an elevator

"Dad carried me up and down the stairs every time we had to go to the hospital for check-ups and treatment.

"Sometimes, he had to stop to catch his breath when we've arrived at the second floor, and other times he would just walk directly up to the fourth floor if he was in a rush," she shared.

"Besides my father, my brother-in-law also carried me. There are great men in my family," she added.

She shared that she often felt guilty for burdening her parents, who had taken care of her for the past two years

There was a time when she even attempted to lose weight, hoping it would make it easier for her elderly father to carry her.

"My father's body is slimmer than mine, so I quietly ate less to lighten the load, but when my father found out, he scolded me and told me to eat as usual. That made me more determined to recover quickly," she said.

She has recently moved to Kuching to live with her husband who works there, and now mostly relies on him to get around

However, Nadzirah said she still often returns home for treatment, where her father remains by her side to help her.

She added that she is thankful for all the supportive people in her life who have helped her through the last two difficult years.

"Their sacrifices are priceless and all that they do keeps me positive. Thank you to all the netizens, too, who have kept my family in prayer," she said.
