Haze Emerges In 2 Klang Valley Areas After Recording Unhealthy API Reading Exceeding 150

Six areas in the peninsular also recorded an air pollutant index reading close to the unhealthy level.

The Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) has reported that two areas in the Klang Valley to have unhealthy air quality today, 9 April

According to the government's haze alert tool, Banting and Klang recorded air pollutant index (API) readings of 163 and 150, respectively, as of 11am today.

An API reading between 51 and 100 is considered moderate, while a reading between 101 and 200 is considered unhealthy.

Several areas in the peninsular also recorded API readings close to the unhealthy level

Those areas include Rompin and Nilai with an API reading of 99, as well as Balok Baru in Kuantan at 98, Cheras at 96, and Putrajaya at 95.

In April last year, the Education Ministry prohibited outdoor activities for students due to the hot weather and haze, reported the New Straits Times.

Students were advised to drink more water and stay under shade during school hours.
