Want to recycle your plastic and paper wastes at home but don't know where to drop them off?

This website can help you find the nearest recycling centres and more!

Climate change slacktivist Justin Wong recently took to Instagram to promote Zero Waste Malaysia's website.

A slactivist is a person who supports a cause or social issue online through minimal effort or involvement.

Wong said the map tool provided by Zero Waste Malaysia, a non-profit organisation where he volunteers, not only allows users to locate the nearest recycling, upcycling, and waste disposal centres, but also helps users to find sustainable businesses, repair services, wet markets, thrift shops, and more.

He said more than 500 locations in Klang Valley alone provide these services, and the number continues to grow.

The website features a six-step guide on how to use the tool

The tool functions much like a navigation app. First, type in the services you are looking for, then navigate the map and click on the available options to learn more about the service providers.

Alternatively, you can also click on the filter button to search for a preset category of services.

When SAYS tried out the tool, we found around six upcycling, recycling, and waste disposal centres near our office in Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya. These include Tzu Chi KL Recycle Point in Damansara Kim, EcoKnights Recycling Centre in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, and an electronic waste collection centre in 1Utama Shopping Mall.

Even places in East Malaysia, such as Kuching and Kota Kinabalu, yield a handful of results.

Below is a short video demonstrating how to use the tool:
