M'sian Escapes To The Jungle Due To Work Stress. He Called For Help 6 Days Later
He wished to live off-grid.
Earlier this month, a man, Mohamad Suhairy Mohamed, boarded a bus from Kuala Lumpur to Terminal Amanjaya in Ipoh, Perak
Suhairy was reportedly stressed at work.
Unable to cope, the 41-year-old made a hasty decision to escape from everything and go live in the jungle.
He entered into the wildness through Tenaga Nasional Berhad's main distribution substation near the National Audit Department, and spent a few days in the wilderness.
However, the vast jungle turned out to be too much for Suhairy, who soon got lost.
Lost in the wildness, and unable to find anything to eat, the 41-year-old ended up calling for help on the sixth day
He was rescued early Sunday morning, 10 June, after he called up the 999 emergency line.
According to a Bernama report, he was rescued by the Perak Fire and Rescue Department.
It took rescue personnel some three hours to locate Suhairy's location.
According to Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, they received the call at 11.44pm on Saturday night, 9 June, and rushed to the location described by Suhairy.
There was no Internet connection. But fortunately for Suhairy, he was reachable via his phone.
"Upon arrival at the scene, the operation commander contacted the victim, who said that he heard the presence of fire engines from the forest," Sabarodzi was quoted as saying.
Sabarodzi said Suhairy was found at 2.46am and handed over to the police for further action.

Following his rescue, the authorities learned that the 41-year-old, who is from Cheras, has a history of schizophrenia and hallucinations
According to Ipoh district police chief ACP Yahaya Hassan, Suhairy was referred to a psychiatrist at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital last year but he stopped taking his medicines in January this year.
Yahaya said that the man told the police that he wanted to live alone, adding that he was an orphan who has been living by on his own since completing secondary school in 1999.
After he was rescued, he was sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for observation.
He is said to be in stable condition.
Asking for help is not a sign of weakness.
