Saarani shared his concern after reviewing reports prepared by the Meteorology Department, as reported by Malay Mail.
He noted that while 2014 saw widespread inundation across the state, new areas are affected this year.
"This phenomenon is similar to what we experienced in 2014, but now we see flooding not only in the same locations but also in new areas," he said.
The 2014 floods forced nearly 8,000 people to evacuate as water levels rose rapidly, submerging homes in areas such as Perak Tengah, Hulu Perak, Kerian, and Kuala Kangsar
As of noon yesterday, 17 October, a total of 1,330 flood victims have taken shelter at 11 relief centers (PPS) in the districts of Kerian, Kuala Kangsar, Hilir Perak, Perak Tengah, and Kampar, according to the New Straits Times.

Saarani also urged district officers and the relevant authorities, including village chiefs, to stay alert and be prepared to assist affected residents.
He also advised those living near major rivers and urban waterways to remain vigilant, citing unpredictable rainfall patterns and the growing intensity of storms.
