Yulo won gold in both the floor exercise and vault events, with a score of 15.000 and an average score of 15.116, respectively.
He is the second athlete to win gold for the Philippines, with weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz earning the country's first Olympic gold medal in Tokyo three years ago. However, the 24-year-old is the Philippines' first male Olympic gold medallist.
"We are a really small country... So to be able to get a gold medal for us is big for us, huge. I dedicate this to the Filipino people also who supported me," Yulo said, as quoted by Reuters.
Yulo's incredible feat earned him numerous rewards, including a three-bedroom condo at McKinley Hill in Manila, 10 million pesos (RM770,000), and a lifetime supply of ramen and other food from various restaurants

According to BBC, the government and other local brands have pledged to reward the 24-year-old for his historic wins.
The University of Mindanao also offered free university credits to the gold medallist. A gastroenterologist even offered Yulo free consultations and free colonoscopies for life.
Olympics revealed that Yulo has also been offered unlimited free buffets, mac and cheese, and a lifetime supply of traditional dishes, such as chicken insal.
Despite the many rewards, Yulo stated they are merely secondary to the world title he had won
"It's just a bonus for me. And this is what really matters," he said, clutching the medal around his neck.
"My hard work and the people who really helped me. I know my success is also their success... I'm happy that I won gold. And I also won a house," he said, laughing, as reported by Reuters.
